Alone,
tattered beauty
now seating for homeless;
upholstery hiding secrets
in red fabric
silence.
Comfort
for the broken
living in a nightmare
of hunger and cardboard housing,
while blessed view it
garbage.
Concrete
reality cries,
“Please don’t let me die here.”
Humanity gives its answer
with resounding
silence.

Deep... The images of the homeless curled up on the red sofa came to mind- as with different "secrets" it may hold.
Quite creative Susie (((hugs)))
Oh yes, silence- I agree.
I'm feeling very sorry for this sofa...and for all of the sofas I've left behind.
This is beautiful, Susie.

Which is a very loud noise...
Powerful last line here:
"...Humanity gives its answer
with resounding
silence."
A lot of truth in your take of this abandoned red sofa. Thanks for sharing.
Strong writing ... any of the stanzas would stand on its own.
This abandoned sofa does represent so much hurt....this is beautiful Susie! :-)
dang that last stanza is awesome...stings but it is awesome...very nice piece...
THIS IS AMAZING AND DEEP.
This brings out society's failings excellently.
So full of sympathy for an abandoned sofa.
This red couch speaks the same voice to both of us and seems to be evoking the same emotions too. What a powerful image. I enjoyed reading your poem. It is deep. I love the comparison you made between the two worlds viewing the same couch differently. Thank you for stopping by to mine too.
Yes Susie, we just wonder what secrets there are that are left untold.
Hank
A very well-done poem, so consistent in its imagery and form. An impressive response to the photograph!
Poor thing, little red. Too bad it can't use those secrets as a little leverage to get back into the house.
You have written so beautifully what I had thought, too about this image. Well done.
Humanity gives its answer
with resounding
silence. -> very deep
