Morning drug its feet
until the mockingbird
sang it song.
Called from sleep
the sun burst from night
turning ebony into gold.
Another day has risen
from the dust of dismay
to silence sorrow with joy.
Let tears dry and smiles be reborn.
You are the gift the world needs.
Rise and let it hear your voice.

Loved the vowel changes in the one syllable words.
Don't know why the p.t. 'drug' struck me as unusual, as I have 'drug myself out of bed' many a time.
Liked the terseness of this, with the golden lining of a new day as a carrot to get out of bed for.
Every day begins anew with a fresh slate! This is a good poem to read as the week begins!
This is a great piece to wake up to, reminds me to leave yesterday to yesterday and put a smile on my face and enjoy today. Great poem.
Message of hope on Monday morn"!
Oh this is beautiful and uplifting. You could not have said it better, Susie.
Beautiful poem! good for the morning and at night to give hope or to know hope is coming!
i can't resist a good rally-cry. rise and sing, caged birds that we are.
This is great. I love the contrast of day/night and joy/sorrow.
Another day has risen
from the dust of dismay... This image really gets to the heart of your piece.
Oh, how very uplifting. Especially love the last two lines,
'You are the gift the world needs.
Rise and let it hear your voice.'
I love the hope in this piece.
Another day has risen from the dust of dismay--loved this! And loved its whole tone
"the dust of dismay" is something I have known. Very good read.
I just love "you are the gift the world needs" — how beautiful and wonderful, Susie.

Let tears dry and smiles be reborn.
You are the gift the world needs.
Rise and let it hear your voice
This is a yearning or pleading relevant to many situations. Tears prompted by sadness or happiness are given hope and directions. Great thoughts Susie!

This is a really lovely poem - from the morning drug - to the sorrow silenced - so many double meanings here of someone convincing themselves of yes. k.
I like the turn of hope, rising in the voice at the last stanza ~
I love you are the gift the world needs~ Beautiful message :D
Always wondered what a mocking birds sounds like ... kewl write
A very beautiful and uplifting poem. Thank you for sharing :)
Really lovely!
Every day a new beginning. Nice share, Susie.
What a fine story moving reluctantly to a star burst of day, an insistence on joy and voice, a return to the living. To be what is needed--to be the cure--to be so compelled, may lead eventually, after the trudge of duty, to enlightenment. Hope.
the sun, called from sleep.
Beautiful and yes, arise and let your joyous voice be heard.
